A pleasant night’s read<\/a><\/p>\n

The first thing to note about this book is that it’s easy reading. The language is clear, always appropriate to the emotions, so the reader can get lost in the content.
\nThat content is a detective story, featuring a policewoman, to me improbably, named Jane Doe.
\nWhile investigating a series of murders of prostitutes in Melbourne, Jane suffers a depressed skull fracture, and needs a holiday. A colleague recommends a place, at the suggestion of another policeman Jane had worked with, in the distant past.
\nBut another murder spoils the idyllic holiday. Jane is the witness who finds the body, and is out of the jurisdiction, and on holiday, but gets involved anyway.
\nThis is interlaced with the question: will she marry Oliver or won’t she?
\nAll the classical elements of a murder mystery are there, including danger to the detective, and the insertion of cues, to see if the reader can solve the crime before the detective.
\nI’m proud to say I did, but I won’t tell you.
\nExcellent characterisation and description, and a twist including a ghost, make this book a pleasant night’s reading.<\/p>\n

A old fashioned whodunit<\/a><\/p>\n

A good read. Ghosts and a serial killer mixed into a read that has a female police officer as the main character. Okay can’t really say that I particularly liked her but she was tenacious, determined and recovering from a head injury that let her see ghosts. That of a husband who is still grieving over the murder of his wife and who had committed suicide to be with her. But 35 years on he was still searching for her. She has been ordered to rest after the injury that she had gotten whilst investigating a serial killer. Almost Ripper like in his actions. They meet on a deserted beach where she is staying at a small cottage. Another murder, a DNA link, flower and threats and then a showdown. Will she survive to unmask the killer?
\nIt would have been a great read if the culprit hadn’t been so very obvious. A few more suspects and a few more red herrings would have been great.<\/p>\n
