I know,&#8221; Melina said, squeezing her assistant&#8217;s cold hands tighter. &#8220;I&#8217;ve already written you a glowing letter of recommendation that should secure you as a shoo-in anywhere you apply for a position. I&#8217;ve also cut you a generous final paycheck that includes the wages you&#8217;ve earned, your annual bonus very early, as well as a three-month severance package.
