I have read most of Max Overton’s novels and find them very accurate and entertaining<\/p>\n Five Stars<\/p>\n really liked this book<\/p>\n dennis cass<\/p>\n Four Stars<\/p>\n Very good read and good continuation from book 1<\/p>\n ANNE WARNES<\/p>\n An excellent war chronicle!<\/p>\n Even though I enjoyed Book One more, I still felt this was an excellent book, and gave it 5 stars, as did my fellow readers.<\/p>\n Too much war and battle scenes described in horrific details for my taste, but that was the Civil War era of brother against brother for the throne. So despite my squeamishness, I found this to be an excellent war chronicle.<\/p>\n Since I am now on book 2, I am beginning to understand all the confusing names, and the different names for the same characters in this book.<\/p>\n I am now looking forward to picking up my Kindle, and starting Book 3 -Tausret!<\/p>\n Christine Schulz<\/p>\n Great story<\/p>\n Another great story of ancient Egypt. Life, death and court intrigue abound throughout this well written story. Book 2 is following in the footsteps of Book 1. Fred. K.<\/p>\n A very good story<\/p>\n As with the first book in the trilogy, the story is compelling, the characterisation is good and I found myself gripped. As with book 1, I found the pace was slowed and interrupted when the same scene was told from a couple of different characters’ viewpoints. I could accept a few sentences to re-tell then pick up the action with the next character, but I found the re-telling of the same scene slowed things down too much. Probably only happened 2 or 3 times but enough to be a distraction. Another thing that prevents me giving 5 stars is the use of ancient terms for the gods and for upper and lower Egypt. I totally accept this is for authenticity. But the problem with reading on a Kindle rather than a paperback is it’s not straightforward to flick back to the beginning and check the author’s note for the explanation of the ancient vs Greek names. So, other than Heru, who I grasped was Horus, I struggled with the names of gods. I grasped that Waset was Thebes and Men-Nefer Memphis, but I’m sorry to say I’m not a good enough student of Egyptology to have remembered the others – so I found this annoying.
