Beryl Trebble
Beryl was born an only child in 1937 in Southport, Lancashire, UK but her parents took her to Kenya to pyrethrum farm when she was 2 years old and they ended up in Durban for the duration of the war years.
After graduating from the Loreto Convent in Eldoret at 15 she studied in Liverpool for a year before returning to South Africa. Here she married a farmer and they uprooted to pioneer a tea estate out of the rain-sodden Tinderet forest for an Assam tea company.
In 1962 she returned to Durban for her daughter’s education.
Three years later she married her present husband, and they have been happily married for 36 years.
Her children’s book, Twiggy’s Idea has been published in English and Zulu.
For the past 13 years she has read for Tape Aids for the blind.
