Scythian Trilogy by Max Overton

Scythia Series cover spread

Captured by the warlike, tribal Scythians who bicker amongst themselves and bitterly resent outside interference, a fiercely loyal captain in Alexander the Great’s Companion Cavalry Nikometros and his men are to be sacrificed to the Mother Goddess. Lucky chance–and the timely intervention of Tomyra, priestess and daughter of the Massegetae chieftain–allows him to defeat the Champion. With their immediate survival secured, acceptance into the tribe…and escape…is complicated by the captain’s growing feelings for Tomyra–death to any who touch her–and the chief’s son Areipithes who not only detests Nikometros and wants to have him killed or banished but intends to murder his own father and take over the tribe.

3.0 out of 5 stars Far too civilized!

If everything I have read about the Scythians is true, they were the worst of the worst of the barbarians. Of course the author had to make them a trifle civil to make a story, but they were even given scathing reviews by the Bible and the Apocrypha. Good historical story-telling.

5.0 out of 5 stars Scythian Trilogy Fantastic.

Max has once again, written a fantastic historic novel trilogy, bringing to life Alexandra's World. Not just of facts but the lives of those affected.

Easy reading

Almost finished, quite looking forward to reading the next. Some characters are not really believable, nor is the plot. A little disappointing.

5.0 out of 5 stars Well wriiten and informative

Background based on fact. Brings out the influence that Alexander the Great had on the known world, Also how even more than 2 centuries ago the racial mix was probably as much as it is today.

3.0 out of 5 stars Fun read . .

A pretty fun series, and possibly better than a 3 star rating. It's interesting, but predictable at times. Decent, but not great, writing. Overall, worth a read but not something you put in your "take with me in case I get stranded on a desert island" box.

Not a bad read.

The whole trilogy is a bit overlong and daft in parts and historically way out!! It is more of a love story than hiostoritcal fiction. I managed to get through to the end though nearly gave up a couple of times.

#3 satisfying end

The final volume of a trilogy filling out in fictional narrative the life and times of Scythians caught up in Alexander's grand adventure. The usual Kindle editing problems are found, but not in abundance

Alexandrian tale of conquest

Niko adventure concludes. A well-written trilogy set in Alexander the greats era. Great read strong characters. This is a good read. My only disappointment was the wrap up epilogue when a new set of tales should be beckoning. More please.
